Betty G was born as Bruktwait Getahun in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. With a thriving music career, she has become one of the biggest artiste to reckon with on the African continent.

Her recent album ‘Wegegta’ has earned her multiple nominations at the All Africa Music Awards #5thAFRIMA-Ghana 2018. She has been nominated for the following categories; Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Best African Jazz, Revelation of the African Continent, as well as the Best Female Artiste in Eastern Africa.

Betty G’s ability to sing in French, English and Amharic has given her an edge in the music scene as she continues to draw an international audience. She remarkably showcases the richness and beauty of Ethiopian culture through her music projects.

Amidst several other community projects, in 2018 the UN Refugee Agency reported that Betty G visited Eritrean refugee children in Ethiopia’s Shire camps, the majority of whom were either unaccompanied or separated from family members. She appealed for more resources for children who lack sufficient psychological support to recover from the trauma of displacement.
