Top Notch Music Stars of West Africa

West Africa has been given a chance to turn all the music love an energy into votes as there’s a need to make a decision on the who the best male artiste in West Africa is. Though Nigeria leads in this category with Six nominations, West Africa has to decide.

The world class event, The All Africa Music Awards, will be held on the 10Tto 12Th  November with the Africa Music Business Roundtable (November 10, 9:30AM) at the Ballroom, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, The AFRIMA Music Village (November 10, 6PM), at the Waterfront, Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos by 4PM and the Main Awards Ceremony (November 12, 4PM) at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos

9 talented artistes have been made to compete for the gold. They are:

Davido 

The artiste and HKN boss is from Nigeria, the multiple awards winning singer has comfortably sang afropop and afrobeat hit tracks . His first single “Damiduro” brought him to limelight and he’s been active since then. His single “Fall” put him on the nominee’s list for the Best Male Artist in West Africa. Davido has performed in Nigeria, USA, Ukraine, London, Kenya, Ghana, Denmark, Canada and other parts of the world.

DJ Arafat

The former Cote D’Ivoire disc jockey is an artiste of the Coupe-Decale genre. Arafat  is one of the most popular African artiste in the French-speaking regions of Africa. His single “Agbangnam”  a  Coupe Decale reggae pop is nominated for the All Africa Music Awards. Arafat has performed in his country and other African countries.

MHD

MHD is a French rapper from the Republic of Guinea, he has mixed origins. The 2-time platinum certified musician belongs to the French rap, afrobeat, afrotrap, trap and hip hop genre. He is nominated for his single “La Puissance” an international record-breaking single. MHD has performed in Guinea, Sweden, France, Spain, Netherlands and other parts of the world

Mr Eazi

Afrobeat lyrical Lord, Mr. Eazi is a pan-African banku and afrobeat genre singer from Nigeria. The award winning singer who’s had duo growing up effects uses it to his credit as he mixes the banku and afrobeat sound to entertain his fans.  He is nominated for his single “Leg Over” which is well received internationally. He has performed in Nigeria, USA, and other countries of the world.

Runtown 

Exquisite R’n’B, hip-hop, and Reggae singer and song producer from Nigeria, Runtown is among the nominees for the best male in West Africa. He garnered international attention with the release of his single “Gallardo” which he featured Davido. The nominated single “Mad over you” which he said was inspired by beautiful women from Africa has made many charts. Runtown has performed in Nigeria, Ghana, London, USA, and other countries.

Sarkodie

Sarkodie is a Ghanaian artiste in the rap, hip-hop and highlife genre. Sarkodie’s first single “Baby” was an instant hit and since then, he hasn’t looked back. Sarkodie who is a multi award winning rapper is one of Ghana’s best rappers. He joined melodies with runtown to produce the nominated single “Painkiller”. Sarkodie has also performed in Ghana, London, Europe, USA, and other countries and he’s yet to do more.

Tekno 

Tekno is a Nigerian artist and producer of the afropop, R’n’B and hip hop artiste. The award winning singer is nominated for the best male artiste in West Africa with his single “Rara”. A song centered on the happening in African countries and call for good governance. Tekno has performed in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Melbourne, USA, UK and other countries.

Wizkid 

Nigerian superstar of multiple genres (afrobeat, afropop, hip hop, dancehall, reggae).  He used to write songs for people and after a while started writing his own. The StarBoy entertainment record label founder competes for the crown of AFRIMA this year. With over 40 awards to his credit, he has again dropped an awesome single “Come closer” which he featured American rapper, Drake which earned him the nomination. Wizkid has performed in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, USA, UK, Europe and other countries of the world.

Ycee

Ycee is a Nigerian artiste of the afrobeat and hip hop genre. His single “Juice” with Maleek Berry is an afropop song that puts your feet on the dance floor. The Jagaban crooner has done live performances in Nigeria, African countries and outside Africa.

The 2017 AFRIMA will hold from November 10 to 12. The scheduled events are The Africa Music Business Roundtable on Friday, November 10 at the Ballroom, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos by 9:30 AM; attendance is subject to registration on the AFRIMA website, www.afrima.org.

Other main events are the AFRIMA Music Village, an evening of a non-stop open music festival of live performances from the African stars and nominees, with an expected audience of 40,000 people, on Friday November 10, at the Waterfront, Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos by 6PM. Attendance will be activated by the purchase of the AFRIMA 2017 Tee-Shirts on the AFRIMA website and at designated points.

The Main Awards Ceremony (November 12, 4PM); a world-class event will happen at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. There will be live performances from star-studded artistes and television broadcast to 84 countries on 109 television stations around the world. Tickets can be purchased on the AFRIMA website and on ariyatickets.com.
